"Before this book there was only one real Veterinary Histology text, and that was Bacha and Bacha, a great book with lots of pictures, but zero textual content, nothing to explain the ‘Why?’ of Histology. Samuelson’s book is a totally different story. There are hundreds of histology pictures, macroscopic images, E.M. pictures, giving you the big picture right down to the tiny little details. And if that wasn’t good enough, the text explains histology!!! I find histology so difficult to understand, but Samuelson’s book explains all of those odd terms you hear in lectures but can’t remember. My only gripe is that there isn’t a Picture Index, to let you reference a particular picture, and the part of the book covering the liver is smaller than I would like, but when you consider that other Histo texts are just pages of pictures with no useful information this is a huge leap forward. I still have my copy of Bacha and Bacha Histology, but it’s going to be getting very dusty on the shelf with my other redundant books."

It is richly illustrated by high quality colour photographs which are of great help to the students for interpretation of the histological slides. The text is clearly written and well linked to the illustrations giving the reader a strong introduction to the different structures analysed. The content is appropriate to our study program... there is no doubt that it constitutes a very good book and it will be recommended to the students as a reference textbook. In addition, I have proposed that some copies are purchased by the library."

Good to students

Textbook of Veterinary Histology is up to date and it contains excellent figures. However, some points on important subjects of the histology in some systems are not observed. This is the main weak point, but in general is very good to students and practical veterinaries.

I have been looking for this older book for quite awhile. I have the companion book to this one. My five grandsons and their father find these two books very helpful in their Judo trainning. The book arrived quickly and was in very good condition.

About the Author
Dr. Gluckman holds a degree in Clinical Psychology. Her Ph.D thesis, The Whole Brain Approach to Education is based on her research in the effect of using both sides of the brain for teaching and learning. She is the author of, Who’s in the Driver’s Seat? and a chapter in Mission Possible. She has published extensively in professional journals. Dr Gluckman speaks at conferences and presents workshops throughout the world. Her programs, Parents, Take Charge! and Teachers Take Charge! are being used in the USA, South Africa and soon, Ireland, to teach parents and educators how to help children of all ages overcome learning, mood and behavior symptoms without medication. Her career started as a teacher in high school. During this time she opened a tuition center offering additional assistance to students who had difficulty learning. Then followed over a decade in private practice as a clinical psychologist, during which time she became known for her work with stress-related disorders, as well as her whole brain approach to healing. Sandy developed a Stress Management Program for The Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Center in South Africa. She also established a Pain Clinic as part of the University of Witwatersrand Dental School. Dr Gluckman has also worn a leadership and strategic development hat. She consulted to business leaders around the globe. She taught the Leadership Development program for the Executive MBA Program at Texas Women’s University, The University of Dallas Graduate School of Management and the University of Witwatersrand Business School in Johannesburg. Sandy lives in Dallas with her husband.

a life line & a life changer

This book has changed my life for the better. I finally understand how stress is playing out for my kids, and I am clearer when they are actually stressed (before it was hard to call it stress as kid-stress and adult-stress are different) - and I see how it invades every area of their little lives and when chronic it affects them socially, physically, academically and it throws family life into turmoil. Suddenly our challenges are so clear, and the solutions even clearer. I am infinitely grateful to Dr Gluckman for writing this book and for her incredible insight into how to help children (and their parents!) who are struggling, even if it is fairly minor. Reading this book makes one a better person and a better parent. I am on my second read already!

A must read for your children's overall health and well being!!

I cannot put this book down. Finally someone is writing something that will actually help frustrated parents. I felt like I was reading about my child exactly! My family has been caught in the vicious cycle of watching my daughter get stressed, get sick, go to the doctor, get medecine, recover and then do it all over again. No one was helping me figure out what's causing this- the asthma, allergies, infections, stomach aches, headaches, and the stress! I now feel like I have a way to help my daughter feel better about herself, gain confidence and re-balance herself so she can fully participate in life and get off this merry-go-round. All parents should read this book!

This is how we should be raising our kids

This book does a great job explaining how we as parents need to be proactive in raising our children. We also need to take on the responsibility and understand that everything we do impacts our children. The approach the author takes looking at the child as a whole including brain, body and spirit is very powerful. I have seen a wonderful change in my child by using the tools in this book. This is a must read book for parents who have children with learning differences.
